Sanding priorities

Does anyone know why it takes the city so long to sand down the roads when they are slippery? I understand that they do the main roads first and the secondary ones last, but this is ridiculous.

I was involved in a car accident (Nov. 27) on Franklin Street and had a lot of damage done to my car because the roads were so slippery. It’s unconscionable that an individual has to pay for having her automobile fixed when it is because of the neglect of the city to properly take care of the safety of the roads. I have always been a careful driver and there is no need of this. This accident was not my fault and could have been avoided if the roads had been sanded down, even if just a little bit. The damage done to me car shouldn’t have to come out of my pocket. Kristen Wilson Bangor

This concerns the man who lived in Corinth who traveled from Bangor. The roads were barely driveable until he got to Corinth, then they were great.

I, too, live in Corinth and all I can say is he must not have to drive on Route 43 going toward Hudson because this is never plowed well. We know several people who have slid off this road. They sand it but don’t plow it. It’s like a sheet of ice.

So, before anyone is killed on this road maybe the people who plow should think about doing a little better job. A lot of us drive this road. Tammy Jackson East Corinth
