EASTON – Travis Valencourt drained two free throws with five seconds to play to give Van Buren a 68-67 schoolboy basketball victory over Easton’s Bears here Friday night. It was Van Buren’s first win this season.
Many games in Eastern Maine were postponed Friday night because of Thursday night’s snow storm.
Valencourt led all scorers with 28 points for the Crusaders. Nathan Marquis hit for 17 and Issac Cote scored 12 for the winners.
For the Bears, Chris Smith poured in 23, Ryan Jandreau tossed in 22 and Seth Dudley scored 11.

At Sherman Station, Luke Cullins poured in 23 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Cougars who took command in the second quarter and posted their second win in three games.
Nate Richardson added 14 points. Justin McNally scored 11 points and Jon Mooney finished with 10 in the winning effort.
Rick Lane scored 25 points and Brad Jones 14 for winless Southern Aroostook.

At Danforth, Budd Shain netted a game-high 26 points, including 10 points in the fourth quarter, to lift the host Vikings past Shead’s Tigers.
East Grand also owned the backboards as Frank Godley pulled down 21 rebounds to go with 16 points. Anthony Cropley chipped in 10 for the winners.
John Barres paced the Tigers with 13 points and Mike Raye added 11.
