Rams survive Wildcat fight for second win

PRESQUE ISLE – Jason St. Pierre’s basket with a minute remaining gave Bangor a 47-46 lead, forcing the Wildcats into fouling and Tom Waterman delivered from the line with three free throw points for Bangor’s 52-46 win against Presque Isle in schoolboy basketball Saturday night.

St. Pierre led all scorers with 15 points, and Waterman accumulated seven of his 11 points in going seven-for-nine from the foul line. Gavin McCarthy added 10 points.

For Presque Isle, Kasey Keenan hit four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points.

At Howland, Laura LaVallee sank 17 of 22 free throws on her way to a game-high 21 points to pace the win for visiting Mattanawcook Academy.

Missy Jandreau added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Lynx.

Sophomore forward Jennie Neal led Penobcot Valley with 17 points. Jessica Potter chipped in with 10 points and Jamie Pelletier grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

At Alfond Arena, the (2-0) Clippers scored three goals in the first period to put away the (0-2) host Indians.

Ian Michaud paced NYA with a goal and an assist. Michaud set up a goal by Brad Richards. Obie Spear, Pat Martin and Nick Pires all chipped in a goal apiece for the winners. Goalie Geramiah Chase turned back 19 of 20 Old Town attempts.

Adam King tallied the lone goal unassisted for Old Town as Jeremy Smith rejected 29 of the 34 shots he faced.
