AUGUSTA — The Department of Economic and Community Development has awarded $2.1 million in ECD block grants to six Maine communities and to Aroostook County, to serve low- and moderate-income residents. The towns chosen are Bucksport, Dexter, Lubec, St. John Plantation, St. Agatha and Weston.

AUGUSTA — The Department of Economic and Community Development has awarded $2.1 million in ECD block grants to six Maine communities and to Aroostook County, to serve low- and moderate-income residents.

The towns chosen are Bucksport, Dexter, Lubec, St. John Plantation, St. Agatha and Weston. The Aroostook County award is on behalf of the townships of Connor and T17 R5.

Communities determine their greatest needs and present proposals to obtain the grants. Funds are used for electrical updating, insulation, installation of wells and septic systems, and roof replacement.
