We, the students of the fourth grade class at the Viola Rand School in Bradley, are writing to you because we feel schools are becoming a more and more dangerous place to be. We have heard and seen on TV that students across the nation are bringing weapons to school. These students plan on hurting others with these weapons or using them for their own protection. If children and teachers are concentrating on not being hurt or on purposefully hurting others then they cannot concentrate on school work.

Students and teachers would feel safer if metal detectors were placed in school buildings to detect weapons. This would save the lives of teachers, students, and all others in the school building. If the weapons were found and taken away at school the students would not be able to use the weapons outside of school either which would keep our communities safer.

If children are punished for doing wrong when they’re young they may not repeat these harmful actions.

Metal detectors can save the lives of many people and allow learning to take place. Do the right thing now before it’s too late. Brenda Jackson’s Fourth grade class Viola Rand School Bradley
