PORTLAND – The Westbrook boys and girls each collected Western Maine championships at the Cumberland County Civic Center Saturday.
The Westbrook girls defeated Kennebunk 57-19 and the Westbrook boys beat South Portland 52-35.
The Westbrook girls are now 20-1 and the boys are 21-0.
In the girls game, Westbrook opened up to a 29-8 halftime lead on its way to the win. Morgan McEwen scored 18 points and Kelly Grover added 11 more as the Blue Blazes crusied to the win.
In the boys game, the Blue Blazes held the Red Riots to 11 first-half points on the way to the victory. Geoff Sawyer and Dan Gutierrez each scored 15 points to lead the Blue Blazes to the victory.
Ben Saxton scored 13 points to lead the South Portland Red Riots.
