Holden residents schedule Spring Cleanup Weekend

HOLDEN — Holden residents and property owners will have an opportunity in May to get rid of items that are not picked up by the regular weekly trash collection or monthly recycling pickup.

The annual Holden Spring Cleanup Weekend will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19.

Items can be taken at no charge to the public works department garage, located on Route 1A next to the town office.

Residents will be responsible for unloading and separating items.

An attendant will be on duty to determine what items will be accepted, to direct separation of items, and to verify residency.

Items that will be accepted include:

White goods, such as refrigerators, washers, dryers and stoves.

Furniture, including chairs, tables, couches and mattresses.

Auto parts, fenders, doors and windshields.

Tires and rims that have been dismounted. Brush and leaves.

Demolition debris, separated into piles of wood, plaster, asphalt, vinyl and insulation.

Items that are not acceptable are those that can be put in with the regular weekly household trash, recylable items that can be put in the monthly recyling pickup bins, automobile bodies, stumps and hazardous materials.
