FAIRFIELD – The Central Maine Supersonics AAU basketball team won the 16-and-under girls state championship held Sunday at Lawrence High School.

The Supersonics advance to the National AAU 16 and under Championship in Spokane, Wash., July 5-13. In the championship game, the Sonics defeated the defending champion Maine Northstars 83-57.

Players for the Supersonics are: Sue Gardner and Beth Gagnon, Orono; Kendra Brown, Denise Case, Lisa Dolley, and Andrea Pardilla, Old Town; Emily Gushee and Jody Kenniston, Rockland; Christy Grover, Bucksport; Kim Condon, Presque Isle; Kara Henderson, Blue Hill; Kelly Morin, East Millinocket; Alison Shedd, Millinocket. Coaches are Stephanie Bernier of Orono and Randy Dodge of Hampden.

The Sonics will start fundraising efforts to defray the expense of the trip to the national tournament. Donations can be made by contacting David Case at 827-0416 or 827-7800.
