SEBEC — Mayo Regional Hospital’s newest ambulance was damaged Tuesday when medical personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident on Milo Road.
Investigator Scott Richardson said Lisa Brackett, the driver of the 1996 Ford ambulance, lost control of the vehicle on the slush-covered highway, and it crashed into guardrails. No one was injured and damage to the vehicle was estimated at $500.
Richardson said the medical crew was responding to what was reported as a personal injury accident. The accident involved 45-year-old Sharon Purdue of Milo, who was traveling to Dover-Foxcroft from Milo at about 7:30 a.m., when her 1990 Honda CRX hit slush and rolled over.
Purdue was not injured, but her vehicle was demolished, according to Richardson.
A few minutes later, on the same stretch of highway, 29-year-old Bernadette Preble of Guilford and five children, ages 2 to 5, escaped injury when she lost control of her 1980 Chevrolet station wagon on slush. The vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.
Preble’s vehicle was demolished.
