HODGDON – Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook piled it on with nine runs in the seventh inning to rally for a season-opening 17-13 softball victory over Hodgdon.

Janna Walker plated three runs with two doubles and a single and Shay Fox contributed a double and two singles good for two RBIs to pace the Warriors. Suzanne Greenlaw tripled and singled, with Kim Collier and Kristen Swallow adding two hits each.

Danielle Pelletier collected three hits and two RBIs for Hodgdon, which committed 13 errors. Wendy Ivey doubled and singled (three RBIs)Campbell singled twice.

At Caribou, the Vikings rallied for the victory with four runs in the sixth inning.

Pitcher Meaghan Lombard struck out 11 Houlton batters and helped herself out by driving in two runs on two singles. Carlyn McCormack had a single and a double.

Jennifer Noonan (1 RBI) singled and doubled to drive for the Shiretowners. Autumn Gentle also drove in a run on two singles.

At Harrington, Kelly Dow struck out 14 and walked two in putting together a four-hit Calais win.

Sarah Currier led the Blue Devils with an RBI single. Dow also had a single.

For Narraguagus of Harrington, April Wallace (1 RBI) stroked two singles. Starley Moffitt struck out seven, walked five and gave up four hits in six innings.

At Jonesport, the Bulldogs scored 10 runs in the first inning to give pitcher Jill McCarthy her first win of the year.

Jan Beal hit four singles for the Royalettes and Stacey Beal drove in four runs on three doubles.

At East Machias, the Dragons got a bases-loaded triple from Kristin LaPlante and chased two Washington Academy pitchers in winning the five-inning game on the 12-run rule.

Meredith Carle rapped a pair of singles and drove in two runs for Woodland, while Kristina Kelly added two more base hits. Winning pitcher Rachel Wearne drove in two runs with a triple.

Brandi Townsend paced the Raiders with a single, triple and two RBIs. Monika Guptill and Heather Browne had two singles each.

At Dexter, Holly Weymouth’s sixth-inning single drove in the winning run for the Pirates.

Weymouth finished with two singles and two RBIs, while designated hitter Teresa Pomerleau damaged the Tigers with two singles, a double and four RBIs.

Julie Titcomb added two doubles, and Maris Leavitt and Darby Smiley had two singles and one RBI for Piscataquis of Guilford.

Jessica Girard led Dexter with two singles, a double, and one RBI, and Tara Gokas had a double, triple and an RBI.

At Mount Desert, Darcy Snow, Barb Haskell and Betsy Lepper combined for 12 hits and six RBIs to lead the Eagles past the Trojans.

Snow rapped two doubles and three singles, Haskell had two doubles and two singles and Leper had a double and two singles for Mount Desert Island. Heidi Carroll struck out eight to earn the win.

Crystal Graves had two singles and drove in two runs for the Trojans, who sent 12 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the seventh before coming up short. Shelagh Slack added a two-run double.

At Rockland, Glorijane Tootill singled, went to second on a wild pitch and eventually scored on a throwing error in the eighth inning to give Rockland its come-from-behind win over Mount View of Thorndike.

Rockland rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh on Sarah Mazurek’s double, a fielder’s choice and an infield error.

Rachel Judecki went the distance for the win, scattering eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

Erin Stevens had two singles for Rockland and Angel Brown had a pair of base hits for Mount View.

At Stonington, Beth Treadwell’s success at bat led the Patriots to their opening win.

Treadwell cranked a double, two singles and drove in two runs for Bangor Christian, while Jen Wilkes added a double, single and two RBIs. Stephanie Regan and Trisha Matula each had two singles.

Morgan Hardy had two singles and two RBIs for Deer Isle-Stonington, and Becky Pilling had an RBI double. Loser Rachel Pilling struck out 11 and walked seven.
