TORONTO – Mario Lemieux, Eric Lindros and Mark Messier, three team captains still chasing the Stanley Cup, each would look good holding the Hart Trophy again.

It’s a pity only one will get the MVP trophy at the NHL awards banquet June 19.

Finalists for trophies recognizing regular-season excellence were announced Thursday and Detroit Red Wings were mentioned most – goaltender Chris Osgood, forwards Sergei Fedorov and Steve Yzerman and coach Scotty Bowman.

Anaheim’s Paul Kariya (20 penalty minutes) and Selanne (22) and Boston’s Adam Oates (18) are Lady Byng finalists for most gentlemanly player. Oates was runner-up the last three years.
