PITTSFIELD – Lisa Barrows hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning to help give the Belfast Lions an 18-17 schoolgirl softball win over the Maine Central Institute Huskies Friday.

Melanie Marriner stroked three doubles to pace Belfast. Christin Lesan doubled and singled twice.

For Maine Central Institute, Megan Baker hit two triples and a single, good for three RBIs. Kylee Berry hit two singles and a double and Emily Bradeen belted a solo homer.

At Camden, Meagan Gordon hit a solo home run in the top of the eigth inning to give Winslow the victory.

Kristy Ferran had a single and a double, Melanie White doubled and Abby White, Melissa Veilleux and Krista McClure each notched two singles each.

Sami Hibbard, Angie Pease and Kate Welt each ripped three singles for the Windjammers. Terri Berg had a double and two singles.

At Greenville, Melissa Krapf spun a two-hitter, striking out eight, as the Pandas downed the Lakers.

Katie Cormier and Stephanie Thurlow rapped a pair of singles each for the winners.

Garnet Korsman and Julie Graham had the lone singles for Greenville.

Bucksport 6, Stearns 3

At Bucksport, Jana Wardwell’s single in the sixth inning led to two runs as the Golden Bucks broke a 3-3 tie and went on to earn the win and remain unbeaten.

Winning pitcher Kelly Downs scattered three hits and one walk and she helped her cause with three singles. Lacey Annis also hit three singles and Katie Pelletier hit two singles. Jessica Sawyer slugged a two-run homer.

For Stearns, Heather Potvin doubled.

At Lincoln, Abbie Pickering doubled, singled and drove in three runs to help Mattanawcook Academy earn the win while protecting its perfect record.

Angie Brawn chipped in with a triple and a single and two RBIs for the Lynx.

For Central, Teresa Dow stroked a triple and a single and Marie Cookson added a double and a single.

At Dexter, Jessica Girard’s bases-loaded single plated Liza Fogler with the winning run as the Tigers nipped John Bapst of Bangor.

Tonya Benson paced Dexter with a double and a single, and Amy Hunt hit two singles.

For John Bapst, Emily Smith hit two doubles and Lisa Noonan hit two singles.

Penobscot Valley 12, PCHS 11

At Howland, Carrie Braley’s two-run triple and Angie Taggett’s two-run single capped a five-run fifth inning rally that erased an 11-7 deficit and gave Penobscot Valley its come-from-behind win.

Becky Hichborn and Rachael Dawson had two singles apiece for the winners and Keri Magoon doubled. Braley went the distance for the win.

Darby Smiley and Jen Moore each doubled and singled for PCHS. Julie Titcomb, Maris Leavitt and Holly Weymouth had two base hits apiece.

At Newport, Laurie Claing scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Warriors the win.

Melissa Coppa had three singles and Hope Kurro had two singles. Amanda Dorman got the win for Nokomis.

Kate Thompson singled twice and scored three runs while Katie Fraser singled and scored three runs.

Bangor 12, Old Town 3

At Bangor, Alicia Utterback went four-for-four with two doubles and two runs batted in to key Bangor’s 15-hit attack.

Utterback’s two-run double keyed a three-run third inning rally that erased a 2-1 deficit and gave the Rams the lead for good.

Old Town pulled within 4-3 with a run in the top of the fourth but Julie Murray’s RBI fielder’s choice and Becca Kinney’s sacrifice fly capped another three-run Ram outburst in the bottom of the fourth.

May Moody, Mel Deyone and Kristy Bowden had a pair of singles apiece with Moody and Deyone having RBIs. Deyone went the distance for the win, spacing nine hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Brandy Knapp had a double and a single and an RBI for Old Town and Brianna Day, Kelley Emerson and Kalina Cuarisma had two base hits each.

At Hermon, the Eagles of Blue Hill pounded out 16 hits on the way to the win.

Emily Lewandowski ripped three singles and a double and Betsy Lepper singled three times for the winners.

Megan Maskus had three singles and Katy Calligan doubled and tripled for the Hawks.

At East Sullivan, the Sumner Tigers pulled ahead with a six-run sixth inning sparked by Joslyn Brenton’s bases loaded triple and held on for the win.

Dara Glass tripled and singled for Sumner while Brittany Willey and Brooke Newenham each hit two singles. Tema Rodgers added an RBI triple during the sixth inning rally.

For Ellsworth, Marcy Damp hit two doubles and drove in three runs.
