BANGOR – Keith Dorr’s third hit of the game, a one-out single to right-center field, chased Mike Pelkey home from second with the winning run in the 13th inning as Bangor tipped Old Town 3-2 in schoolboy baseball action Tuesday.

Junior righthander Darren Stover pitched eight innings of six-hit, shutout relief, striking out five to pick up his fourth win in as many decisions. He notched his fifth strikeout with the bases loaded and two outs in the 13th.

A Casey Catell double, Jason Goldsmith’s RBI single and Andy Robichaud’s run-scoring double staked Bangor to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but Old Town rallied in the sixth to tie it on singles by Bruce Boyington and John Powers, Jon Thomas’ sacrifice, Bryan Goody’s RBI fielder’s choice and an error on Stover.

T.J. True’s diving catch in the eighth preserved the tie.

Dorr had a double and two singles for Bangor. Robichaud had a double and a single and Goldsmith singled twice. Jared Foster had two doubles for Old Town while Ryan Doucette and Powers had two singles each.

Cory Young pitched 10 innings of eight-hit, two-run ball for Old Town, striking out one and walking three. Jeremy Miller took the loss.

Brewer 21, Hampden 5

At Hampden, Donnie Sawyer had a homer and three RBIs as Brewer rolled to a blowout win.

Dakota Therrien added three singles and drove in four runs and the Witches got two singles each from Dennis Roy, Mike Kane and Aaron Largay.

Hampden’s Shane McDougel had two singles and an RBI.

Ellsworth 11, Orono 2

At Ellsworth, three pitchers combined to four-hit Orono and four batters hit two singles each as the Eagles soared.

Matt McDonald, Troy McDonald, Chris McDonald and Chris Massengale each hit two singles to pace Ellsworth. Phil Hodgkins, Luke Hardison and Jason Nyby collaborated on the four-hitter with Hardison earning the victory.

For Orono, Robey Rhoads stroked an RBI double and two singles.

At Bangor, Adam Zaitz held Sumner of East Sullivan to four hits over seven innings and he struck out seven along the way to help John Bapst claim the win.

Mike Brockett, MIke Mulaney, Joel Perry and Zaitz had two hits apiece to pace the Crusders. Brockett and Mulaney also had three RBIS each.

For Sumner, Pat Ford, Travis Bickford, Alex Williams and Erik Dougan each collected a single.

At Hermon, the Golden Bucks got a steady pitching performence from Matt Keene to notch the schoolboy victory.

Keene pitched a complete game, allowing six hits, striking out eight, and walking none. Greg Gobel rapped two singles and an RBI for the winners.

Justin Perry belted a solo home run to pace the Hawks and Jameine Chambers and Eric Reynolds chipped in a double apiece.

At Dexter, the Red Devils rapped five of their eight hits and scored seven runs in the top half of the first inning to give pitcher Kale Ladd the win.

Ladd fired a three-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks. Ladd helped himself with the bat as he ripped two singles and an RBI. Ed Houston also had two singles for the winners.

Nathan Connors ripped an RBI-single to lead Dexter and Dan Welch and Loni Levensalor added a single apiece.
