SHERMAN STATION – Senior righthander Sam Shippee, making his first start since undergoing knee surgery this past winter, fired a two-hitter to lead the Katahdin Cougars to a 6-1 schoolboy baseball win over the Central Aroostook Panthers Friday.
Shippee struck out 14 and walked two.
Luke Cullens had two doubles and a single and drove in a run for Katahdin and Willie Sleeper had a triple and a single.
Matt Townsend homered for the Central Aroostook run.

At Woodland, the Dragons scored eight runs in the first inning on the way to the victory.

M.J. Lenfestey had a three-run triple in the fifth for Machias.

Tigers sweep Patriots
At Bangor, the Forest Hills Tigers of Jackman posted 6-3 and 16-0 victories over Bangor Christian.
In game one, Eric Hall slashed a two-out, two-run single that sealed the win. Rocky Achey singled twice and Pat Forgue and Forrest Chamberlain each doubled. Pat Forgue registered seven stikeouts in the win.
Alan Sage notched three singles while Ryan Mick struck out nine in a losing effort.
In game two, Dave Schoenmann ripped three singles, a double and scored three runs for the Tigers.
Forgue and Ryan Begin each had a single and double. Forgue added a triple.
Mick led the Patriots with a single and a double.
