Grieving family sets reward

BRIDGTON — Fearful that the case is being forgotten, siblings of a 30-year-old Bridgton woman who was killed two years ago have posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to her killer.

The stabbing death of Crystal Perry, a single mother whose body was discovered by her 12-year-old daughter, shook this quiet Cumberland County town. Once the dominant topic, the slaying rarely comes up in conversation at local gathering spots anymore.

“I guess it doesn’t seem to be so much on [residents’] minds,” said Perry’s mother, Grace Bartlett. “But seeing as it is my daughter, it’s still on my mind.”

This month, Perry’s brothers and sisters offered a $10,000 reward for information leading police to the killer.

“We didn’t know what else to do, and we were tired of waiting,” said Carol Noyes, Perry’s older sister.

Police this month spent six hours interviewing workers at Perry’s place of employment, Pleasant Mountain Moccasin.

“You have to let the public and the fellow employees know we haven’t forgotten it. We’re still working on it,” said Police Chief Robert Bell.

Police have taken blood samples from several men, testing their DNA against human cells recovered at Perry’s home that are believed to be the killer’s. Police say little about the case publicly, but apparently have not found a match in any of the DNA samples.

The latest sample was shipped to the state’s crime lab 10 months ago and is due back soon, Bell said.

Perry’s family hopes the offer of a $10,000 reward will pry loose the sliver of information needed to catch the killer.
