Honor parts for the class of 1996 at Carrabec High School in North Anson have been announced by Principal Robert Clement. Travis Rogers, son of Cynthia and Gary Rogers of Solon, was named valedictorian, and Melissa Shea, daughter of Sheila Hoyt of New Portland and Thomas Shea of Orrington, salutatorian.

Travis was vice-president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Scott Hi-Q team and Carrabec Math League. He also was president of the outing club and of the junior class. During his freshman and sophomore years he managed the junior and varsity boy’s basketball teams. He was named as a National Merit Finalist. He plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology and major in genetics and biotechnology.

Shea was student council representative all four years and served as secretary her senior year. She was a member of National Honor Society, Scott Hi-Q team, Carrabec Math League, biology, German, and outing clubs. Shea has participated in basketball, softball, indoor soccer and track and field. She served as captain of the soccer team her senior year. She will attend George Washington University where she plans to major in International Affairs.

Graduation ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the CHS gymnasium.
