Edward Stanhope of Auburn set two national records for the Masters II (ages 50-60) group at the Interservice Running Target Championship held at Fort Benning, Ga., May 15-24.
Running target is an Olympic target shooting sport shot with precision air rifles at 10 meters.
Stanhope, a helicopter pilot with the Company C Aviation Batalion of the Maine Army National Guard in Bangor, set the Olympic match record by scoring 553 out of a possible 600 points. He also set the mixed match record by notching 357 points out of a possible 400.
Stanhope is now preparing for the U.S. Championships held in August.
