HERMON — Town officials will put together a flier that will be mailed to all residents informing them of a new firm which will handle curbside trash collection and recycling services.

Bickford Enterprises Inc. was the low bidder out of seven firms that bid on a three-year contract for curbside trash pickup.

The highest bid was $60,664. The low bid by Bickford Enterprises of Brewer and Pittsfield was $44,720 for the first year with increases over the next two years based on hikes in the U.S. Consumer Price Index.

Fred Andreoli, a spokesman for the firm, said it planned to keep the same two pickup days of Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The mailer will also include information about recent changes in the recycling-solid waste ordinance approved by the council.
