BOSTON – K.C. Jones, who guided the Boston Celtics to a pair of NBA championships in the 1980s, was named an assistant coach to M.L. Carr on Monday.

Jones replaces Don Casey, who left the Celtics to become an assistant to John Calipari in New Jersey. The Celtics also announced Monday that Dennis Johnson was being promoted to the first assistant coach position.

Jones, 62, played on eight Celtics championship teams during his nine seasons with the Celtics.
