BATH — The Maine Maritime Museum will lead a trip down the Kennebec River to visit Seguin Island, the site of Maine’s second oldest lighthouse. Local historian Bud Warren will lead the cruise while discussing historical and environmental aspects of the river from Bath to Seguin.

The trip will be held on Saturday, July 20.

Commissioned in 1795 by George Washington, Seguin Island lighthouse has the highest elevation in Maine and is listed on the national Register of Historic Places. Access to the islands is provided by a launch, with a challenging 144-foot climb to the top. The 64-acre island is considered a bird watchers paradise, and visitors should plan to spend a full hour ashore.

The cruise leaves the Maine Maritime Museum dock at 9 a.m. and returns at 3:30 p.m. The cost for museum members is $23, $25 for nonmembers. Call 443-1316 for more information or to register.
