BANGOR – Run-scoring singles by Jeff Fogg and Andy Boure with two outs in the sixth inning erased a 5-4 deficit and rallied Old Town-Orono past Wickes 7-5 to complete a sweep of their Wednesday doubleheader at Garland Street Field.
Old Town-Orono won the opener 6-3 behind the combined four-hit pitching of Nate Ballard and Chris Bagley.
Boure had a double and two singles in the nightcap and Fogg knocked in three runs with a double and a single. Mark McEwen picked up the win in relief of Buzza Moore.
Roy Peary had two singles for Wickes and Eric Murray had a two-run single.
In the opener, Ballard hurled one-hit shutout ball three three innings before leaving with a tender arm and turning it over to Bagley, who allowed three hits and three runs over the final four innings.
Tony Fernandez had a double, two singles and two RBIs and finished his season 20-for-28. He’s leaving for Venezuela Thursday. Fernandez and McEwen had RBI singles in the first inning to give Old Town-Orono the lead for good. Andy Trice had two base hits for the winners.
Peary doubled for Wickes.
