Waldo, Bangor in split

BANGOR – Jason Littlefield scattered seven Bangor hits as Waldo County posted a 9-5 victory in the first game of a doubleheader but Bangor took the second game 11-4 in American Legion action at Mansfield Stadium Sunday.

In game one, Waldo’s George Tripp had a double and a single while Chris Maheux singled three times.

For Bangor, Mark Alaimo and Pat Estey each had two singles, while Casey Catell tripled.

In the second game, Tim Patchell got the win as Bangor rebounded with a seven-run seventh inning.

Alaimo whacked three singles to lead the Bangor attack. T.J. True slammed a two-RBI triple and Justin Perry added two singles.

For Waldo, Chris Maheux had two singles and a double while Greg Bouchard added a triple.

Bangor, Trenton split

At Bangor Saturday, Josh Pressley upped his record to 6-0 with a 2-0, first-game victory but Trenton bounced back with a 10-2 win in game two.

Ryan Mick drove in both Bangor runs with a single in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Comrades’ win. Mark Alaimo, Pat Estey and Mick each had two singles.

Tim Pert and Torrey McDonald led Trenton with a double each.

In game two, Dan Curtis picked up the win for the Acadians and helped his own cause with a double, triple and scored three runs. Steve Salyer notched a single, double and a triple while Seth Cole singled twice.

For Bangor, Alaimo singled and doubled.

Old Town-Orono, Waldo split

At Orono, Waldo County road the arm of Matt Cox to the 8-3, opening-game victory but Old Town-Orono came back to post a 16-6 win second-game win Saturday.

Cox retired the last 14 consecutive batters for the win. George Tripp had a single, double and a three-RBI home run in the sixth to pace Waldo County. Ryan Maheux drove in two runs with a single.

Robey Rhoads led Old Town-Orono with a two-run homer and John Montgomery added an RBI single.

In game two, Bryan Goody launched a two-run homer and added two doubles for the Twins.

Montgomery singled three times, John McGlinn added a two-run homer and Steve Osborne and John Powers each singled twice.

Tripp had two doubles and Nate Hall had a two-run single.

Calais, Hermon split

At Hermon, Mike Lenfestey’s two-run, eighth-inning single delivered Calais’ 11-8 win in the opening end of Saturday’s doubleheader, but Hermon’s Spencer Day crafted a three-hitter to deliver the Navigators’ 8-6 win.

Day’s two-run homer in the seventh tied the game up at 7-7, and he added two singles as Hermon erupted for 17 hits but couldn’t grab the win. Adam Hunt tripled and singled, Josh Morse and Brock Hartford each singled and doubled, and Todd Tufts, Rob Freese and Ryan Martin had two singles each.

Day struck out six and walked three to earn the second-game win, and Hunt, Tufts and Eric Reynolds each singled twice for Hermon.

Brewer sweeps

At Brewer, the Brewer Falcons posted a doubleheader sweep over Skowhegan Saturday 9-4 and 7-4.

In game one, Greg Gobel nocked in three runs with a double and two singles to pace Brewer. Jody Peak had a double and a single while Aaron Largay had a single and three RBIs.

Chris Morris hit two singles and Jesse LaCasse had a double for Skowhegan.

In the second game, David Gross had a double and a single good for three RBIs. Jason Dority added a single and a double and Steve Smith had two singles for Brewer.

Luke Domarecki had two singles while Chris Morris and Dan Hilton each doubled for Skowhegan.

Molunkus sweeps Wickes

At Mahaney Diamond Sunday night, Travis McKenney scattered six hits, struck out nine and walked three to earn Molunkus’ 9-2 second-game doubleheader win.

Brent Brown led Molunkus to the win with a single, double and three RBIs, and Frank Peckham added two singles, a double and an RBI. Randy Harris singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Marc Halsted and Roy Perry each singled twice for Wickes, and Mark Reed got the RBI single.

Molunkus notched the 5-4 win earlier using some opportunistic baserunning in the fourth.

Randy Brodeur reached base on an error, followed by a Frank Peckham single, and both advanced a base on an error. Aaron Knowles drew a walk to load the bases, setting the table for Charlie Hite’s two-RBI single. Knowles raced home on a passed ball for the winning run.

Peckham led Molunkus with a single, double and an RBI, and Randy Harris added an RBI single.

For Wickes, Marc Halsted singled and doubled, and Matt Alaimo had two singles.

At Bangor’s Mansfield Stadium Sunday night, Ken Reed’s two singles, double and four RBIs powered undefeated Mid-Maine to its ninth win.

Troy Martin added a two-RBI home run in the fourth, Greg Domareki had two singles and an RBI, and Adam Fitzpatrick singled twice for Mid-Maine.

Jarrod Williams led Old Town-Orono with a single, double and an RBI, and Jeremy Bragg had two singles.
