Western Mountain East ended Houlton’s weekend undefeated streak Monday with a 4-1 loss at the state Babe Ruth baseball championships for 13-15 year olds in Houlton.
The teams will play today at 10 a.m. for the state championship.
In Little League District 3 playoff action for ages 11-12 in Bucksport, Bangor West eliminated Bucksport. Bangor travels to play Old Town at 5:30 p.m. today for the District title.
In 9-10 Little League baseball state play, Michael LaRochelle fashioned a one-hitter as Bangor West eliminated Gardiner and advanced to meet East Biddeford, a 7-2 loser to Scarborough, Tuesday.

At Houlton, Travis Webb struck out nine and didn’t give up a walk in crafting the five-hitter for Western Mountain East. Trevor Holt’s double drove in two runs, and Travis Dube singled twice.
Ryan Bernard’s lead-off single put him on base and he scored Houlton’s only run. Mike Weston, Andrew Wright, Nick Russell and Chris Stewart each singled once.
Houlton swept its way through the weekend with three wins.
Chris Webb notched the 11-1, five-inning win Saturday against Lincoln County, striking out nine and walking two on his way to the two-hitter.
Ryan Harris and Nate Hardy singled, doubled and drove in two runs apiece. Weston and Bernard each had two singles and two RBIs.
Lincoln County’s Chris Howell had a first-inning single and Shawn Geyer doubled.
Houlton got their second win Saturday with a 10-0, mercy-rule win against Sanford, as Wright hurled a two-hitter, striking out four and walking one.
Sam Michaud led the way with a sixth-inning RBI triple, and Nick Russell’s single plated two.
Sunday, Houlton knocked off Western Mountain East 10-0 in six innings as Ryan Harris threw a three-hitter, struck out two and walked six.
Nate Hardy doubled, and Weston, Wright and Russell all singled twice for Houlton.

At Bucksport, Dan Logan hung in through a full count and drew the two-out bases-loaded walk for the game-winning RBI to boost Bangor.
James Dube led the winners with a double and RBI single, and Jason Britton had a single and two RBIs. Kevin Proctor doubled.
Warren Chase propelled Bucksport with an RBI double.

At Scarborough on Sunday, Amanda Cormier and Lauren Adams each drove in three runs to help Sanford eliminate Bangor.
Bangor was led by Kari Friedenberg who singled twice and drove in two runs. Kara Holland had a double and two singles for Bangor.

Waldo 9, Hermon 3
At Hermon, a six-run outburst in the second propelled Waldo County to the American Legion win over Hermon Monday.
Gregg Bouchard went 3-for-4 with three singles and an RBI for Waldo County. Jason Littlefield added two singles and an RBI, and Ryan Maheux had two singles.
Todd Tufts paced Hermon with a third-inning RBI single, and a two-run single in the fifth. Josh Morse and Adam Hunt each singled twice.

At Skowhegan, the Log Drivers were forced to forfeit the game when only one umpire showed up for the makeup game, due to a miscommunictation, according to Skowhegan coach Rick York.

Double O’s, Yankees split
At Mahaney Diamond, Chris Massengale battled back from three consecutive strikeouts and crushed a grand slam in the eighth to boost Downeast and win the first game of Monday’s doubleheader 13-9 against Old Town-Orono.
Matt Haney added three singles and an RBI and Peter Kenney singled twice and drove in a run in the Eastern Maine Amateur Baseball League game.
Andy Trice had three singles and an RBI, and Jeff Fogg drove in two runs with a single and double for Old Town-Orono.
In the second game, Mark McEwen spun a three-hitter, striking out four, walking one and giving up one earned run for the Double O’s 9-2 win.
Jeremy Bragg paced Old Town-Orono with a double, triple and three RBis, and Chris Bagley added a single, double and RBI. Jeff Fogg had a single and double.
