VASSALBORO – Billy Haynes of Northeast Harbor defeated Greg Hanna of Augusta C.C. 3 and 1 in the final of the 16-17 year old division to win the Maine Junior Golf Championship at Natanis Golf Club Thursday.

Adam Williamson of Oakdale G.C. defeated Ben Daughan who plays out of York Golf and Tennis Club 3 and 2 for the 14-15 year old crown. Derek Hurwitch of Naples G.C. won the 13 and under division with a 5 and 3 victory over Ben Oxley, a home clubber.

Haynes downed Jeff Cyr of Biddeford-Saco 3 and 2 in the morning round while Hanna ousted 1995 champion and qualifying medalist Ian Sady of Camden 2 and 1 setting up the afternoon final.

Williamson and Haynes will join four other golfers yet to be determined to represent Maine at the New England Junior Championship August 20-21 at Crestwood C.C. in Rehoboth, Mass.
