ELLSWORTH — A Bucksport man was in satisfactory condition Monday night at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital after a rush-hour motorcycle accident at a busy intersection.
Police said Mark Thibodeau, 37, was driving a 1994 Kawasaki motorcycle west on Main Street toward Bucksport when he passed a line of stalled traffic on the right, striking the side of an oncoming Humpty Dumpty Potato Chip van driven by Timothy McCormick, 30, of Brewer.
The van was turning from West Main left onto State Street.
Although Thibodeau was wearing a helmet, he suffered head abrasions and a severe injury to his left shin, said Officer Leigh Guildford of the Ellsworth Police Department. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
McCormick was uninjured. The van he was driving sustained about $1,000 worth of damage.
