Where are the war protesters of the 1960s? Remember back when the Vietnam War got out of fashion and people in America had a passion for peace? The United States is about to bludgeon a country named Iraq flat into this oil-soiled earth because we do not like its leader. We have demonized Saddam to cover our guilt and our power.
Eisenhower warned us against too much military might. I think this country has become anesthetized to violence, by television and movies; so that when our country decides to launch 44 cruise missiles at will, we feel nothing.
If Saddam is that much of a demon, then would not his own people and his own military rise up against him? Are we as Americans really all that concerned about the Kurds?
I feel badly for the military men and women who serve as pawns in this military/political scam. People died in wars, the ones who invent the wars do not. Harry Pellett Vietnam veteran Levant
