DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Mount Desert Island Trojans beat the Foxcroft Academy Ponies 4-1 in schoolgirl soccer action Monday to improve to 6-0.

The Trojans used a three-goal second half to beat the Ponies. Shelagh Slack, Shane Cole, Maya Kaldao, and Sarah Skiff each scored a goal. Goalie Lacey Richards made one save on seven attempts.

Holly Stelmok’s first-half score paced Foxcroft Academy and goalie Sherrie Zimmerman stopped six of 11 shots.

GSA 4, Penquis 1

At Milo, the 5-0 George Stevens Academy Eagles used a balanced scoring attack to down the 2-4 Patriots.

Brooke Lawsing, Erika Carter, Emily Lewandowski, and Kim McGraw notched a goal apiece for GSA of Blue Hill. Goalie Betsy Lepper made 14 saves on 23 shots.

Kylie Rendzia scored for Penquis of Milo and goalie Jill Horne made 20 saves on 32 shots.

Dexter 0, Ellsworth 0 (2OT)

At Dexter, neither team could could convert a scoring opportunity through regulation and the two extra periods.

For the 2-2-2 Tigers, goalkeeper Kim Breton stopped 10 of 17 shots, while Cindy Bromley turned aside 17 of 28 shots for the Eagles.

Old Town 1, Sumner 1

At Old Town, Joslyn Brenton of Sumner scored an unassisted goal with about six minutes remaining to tie the score.

Goalie Stacie Warren stopped 12 of 21 shots for the 2-3-1 Tigers of East Sullivan.

Jessica Bosse scored off a Kalina Cuarisma pass for 3-2-1 Old Town. Kendra Brown turned aside six of eight shots for the Indians.

Orono 4, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Molly Holmberg’s three goals powered the 4-1-1 Riot offensive assault on the 0-6-1 Witches.

Jill Freese added the other goal for Orono as goalie Sue Gardner made two saves on three shots.

Goalie Heidi Everett stopped 16 of 23 shots for Brewer.

Central 2, John Bapst 2

At East Corinth, the Red Devils and the Crusaders each had to settle for a tie after both teams failed to score in two overtimes.

Jessica Gallant and Julie Bragdon each scored in regulation for Central, now 1-5-1, and Amanda Wright stopped 22 out of 25 shots.

For John Bapst of Bangor, now 1-4-1, Katie Crotty and Alexa Chapman each scored and Katie Lawlor posted 13 saves on 18 shots.

Boys soccer

Valley 2, Buckfield 0

At Bingham, Mickey Young and Peter Belanger each tallied unassisted goalis to lead the Cavaliers to the victory over the Bucks.

Goalie Dustin Giberson saved 15 of 31 shots for Valley. Mike Marsten made 12 saves on 24 shots for Buckfield.

Sumner 4, Old Town 2

At East Sullivan, freshman David Renwick scored a goal to put Sumner ahead 4-2 and the Tigers held on for the win.

Jason Soule, Matt Welch and Carl Grosjean each added a goal for Sumner, now 3-2. Aaron Scott made 10 saves on 12 shots.

For Old Town, now 2-4, Hugo Ferland and Don Parsons each scored a goal. Danny Hardesty made 29 saves on 47 shots.

Field hockey

Central 5, Brewer 0

At East Corinth, Crystal Strout scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead the Red Devils to the victory.

Emily Stupak added two goals and Katrina Libby one for 5-1 Central of East Corinth. Jessica Shorette added two assists and Theresa Dow one, and goalie Jen Greatorex faced no shots.

For 0-6 Brewer, Trisha Boone and Jen Curtis combined to stop 34 of 44 shots in goal.

JV: Central 4, Brewer 0

Jay 3, Georges Valley 2

At Thomaston, Amy Bergeron scored a goal on the sixth set of penalty corners to lead Jay.

Beth Grimaldi and Jen Smith scored the first two goals for Jay, now 3-1, and Kate Trask made eight saves on 16 shots.

For Georges Valley, now 1-5-1, Valerie Rackliff scored both goals while Stephanie Steele made 12 saves on 32 shots.

Mattanawcook Acad. 1, PCHS 0

At Lincoln, Heather Palmer’s tally with 2:46 left to play gave the 6-0 Lynx the victory over the 4-2 Piscataquis Community Pirates. The win also marked the 100th career victory for coach Dean Libbey who is in his 20th year as head coach.

Goalie Angie Brawn made six saves on 11 shots for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Goalie Janna Watson stopped seven of 14 shots for PCHS Guilford.
