Ashby sparks Raiders to first win

LUBEC – Brandon Ashby scored two goals to power Washington Academy to its first schoolboy soccer win, 5-3 over Lubec on Thursday.

The Raiders of East Machias and the Hornets are both 1-5.

B.J. Dewalt, Jason Jamison and Ben Blake also scored for Washington Academy.

Bobby Mahor netted two for Lubec and Daniel Wormell added one goal.

Nick Look stopped four of 14 shots for the Raiders. John Morris stopped 11 of 20 shots for Lubec.

Lee 3, So. Aroostook 0

At Dyer Brook, Derek Dicker scored two goals to lead the Lee Academy Pandas to the win.

Adam Peters added a goal and an assist for Lee, now 3-3, and Jon Cole made four saves on six shots.

For Southern Aroostook, now 1-8-1, Sam Michaud made nine saves on 12 shots.

Machias 3, Woodland 3

At Machias, the Bulldogs scored three goals in the second half to overcome a 3-0 deficit at the half and earn a tie.

Seth Kilton, Nick Goding and Pat O’Keefe each scored a goal for Machias, now 2-2-2. Ian McCarthy stopped nine out of 13 shots.

For Woodland, now 3-2-2, Barry Coleman scored two goals and Donnie Mercier added one. David Sanford recorded 15 savesd on 22 shots.

Schenck 3, Penquis 0

At East Millinocket, Jamie McDunnah scored two goals to help the Wolverines win.

Chris Wyman chipped in for 2-2-3 Schenck with a goal and an assist. Mike Kimball made three saves on three shots.

For Penquis of Milo, now 2-3-1, Mike Harris registered 13 saves on 16 shots.

Islesboro 4, Pine Tree Acad. 1

At Islesboro, Islesboro’s defensive pressure helped limit Pine Tree Academy to nine shots on goal as the host Eagles notched the win.

Josh Conover, Derek Johnson, Wayne Rollins and Tracey Wuori each scored a goal for 4-2 Islesboro. Steve Shand saved six of nine shots.

Devon Copsey scored the lone goal for 1-2 Pine Tree of Freeport and Phillip Schmeal saved seven of 26 shots.

Hermon 2, Dexter 0

At Hermon, Eric Tableman scored two unassisted goals to lead the Hawks to a win.

Sean Smith made four saves on 10 shots for Hermon, now 3-1-2.

For Dexter, now 0-6, Dan Cox made 17 saves on 22 shots.

Lincoln Acad. 6, Mount View 1

At Thorndike, Ryan Mara and Josh Wilbur each scored two goals to lead Lincoln Academy of Newcastle to the win.

Derek Hanna added a goal and an assist for the 5-2-1 Eagles while Mark Lutte scored one goal and Peter Gagnon notched two assists. Heath Crockett made five saves on 10 shots.

For Mount View, now 1-5-1, Ben Jacobson scored on an assist from David Miller. Jacob Von Oesen made five saves on 13 shots.

Camden-Rockport 2, Medomak 0

At Camden, Jon Moro and Doug Mazzeo each scored a goal in the first half to help put away the win for the 5-3 Windjammers.

Drew Mazzeo made 10 saves on 13 shots for Camden-Rockport.

For Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, Keith Simmons made 11 saves on 18 shots.

Girls soccer

Woodland 5, East Grand 1

At Woodland, Serena Carter scored two goals and added an assist to lead Woodland to its first win.

Kristin LaPlante added a two goals and Jaimee Walker scored one for Woodland, now 1-3-1.

For East Grand, now 0-4, Danielle Shay scored the lone goal and Megan Amero made 10 saves on 22 shots.

Bucksport 4, FA 0

At Bucksport, Kara Henderson booted in two goals to lead the Golden Bucks to the win over Foxcroft Academy.

Jessica Gordon and Katie Pelletier each added a goal for Bucksport, now 6-1, and Kelly Downes made four saves on eight shots.

For 2-4 Foxcroft, Sherrie Zimmerman made 11 saves on 18 shots.

George Stevens 3, Schenck 0

At Blue Hill, Emily Lewandowski scored two goals while leading 7-1 George Stevens Academy to victory.

Sarah Clifton added a goal and Brooke Lawsing had an assist for GSA. Betsy Lepper and Erin Willey combined on five saves on 12 shots.

Lee 0, Penquis 0

At Lee, offense was hard to come by as the Pandas and the Patriots settled for a scoreless tie.

Shannon Cole made 11 saves on 27 shots for Lee, now 1-5-1.

For 2-3-1 Penquis of Milo, Erynn Bailey stopped nine out of 17 shots.

Old Town 3, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Kendra Brown rejected 14 of 25 shots to lead the Indians to the victory.

Kalina Cuarisma, Alanna Maurais and Sarah O’Keefe scored for 4-2-1 Old Town. Jody Kenniston assisted on the Cuarisma goal, while Danielle Wentworth assisted on O’Keefe’s goal.

For 1-5-1 Nokomis of Newport, Adrienne Nickerson stopped 11 of 19 shots.

Old Town 2, Foxcroft 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Old Town used a pair of first-half goals to earn the win.

Karen Oliver and Denise Case each scored a goal for the 5-2 Indians. Audrey Brissette saved all seven shots she faced to preserve the shutout.

For 4-3-1 Foxcroft Academy, Cassie Hoffman saved two of four shots.

JV: Foxcroft 2, Old Town 0

MCI 1, Waterville 0

At Pittsfield, Terri-Jean Grant scored the game’s only goal with 18 minutes left in the first half to lead the Huskies to the win.

Holly Barnes had the assist on Grant’s goal and Natalia Mayhew made eight saves on 10 shots for Maine Central Institute, now 2-4.

For Waterville, now 5-2-1, Amy Champagne made two saves on three shots.

Rockland 1, Camden-Rockport 0

At Camden, Erin Stevens scored on a breakaway with 44 seconds left in overtime to lift Rockland to the victory.

Glorijane Tootill made five saves on six shots for Rockland, now 3-2-1.

For Camden-Rockport, now 2-5, Heather Taylor made three saves on four shots.
