I am writing to show my concern for the way the Bangor Daily News dealt with the death of my brother. Susan Kinzie not only created a vivid picture in my mind of cats surrounding my brother, but even described the scene of a scarecrow and ghosts in the background! I hope the Halloween scene she created was an amusing story for her. As for my family, Eric’s death was a tragedy we’ll never forget and not a Halloween story to tell around the campfire.

Eric’s death was not “the end of a life filled with brushes with the law,” as Nancy Garland so nicely summed his life up for us. His whole life was not just about getting into trouble. He had a family he loved and did many things for, a daughter he loved very much and friends that he was always helping out. The only thing Eric’s death is is a tragedy. The color picture of my brother’s body lying on the ground, half covered up, was also very inappropriate and insensitive.

I hope future articles and photos will be a little more tactful and considerate. I hope this letter will help the paper make better judgments on what it prints. Bambi Heath and family Bangor
