BANGOR – Andrew Epstein scored three minutes into the first overtime period Wednesday, leading Bates College of Lewiston to a 3-1 men’s college soccer victory over Husson College.
Erik Trickett and Doug Steele scored one goal each for the 5-3 Bobcats. Mike Marsh made six saves on 15 shots.
Eric McDonald scored the Braves’ lone goal, 42 minutes into the game. Aaron Sargent made nine saves 23 shots for 7-4 Husson.
Harvard 5, Maine 1
At Portland Tuesday night, Harvard scored four times on six first-half shots to post its ninth consecutive win.
Tom McLaughlin scored three times for a hat trick in the game’s first 45 minutes, with assists from Will Kohler and Kevin Silva for 9-1 Harvard, which is ranked 12th nationally.
T.J. Carella notched the game-winning goal 24 minutes into the first half on a Kohler assist, and Silva added a goal of his own for the Crimson. Jordan Dupuis and Peter Albers each made three stops on nine Maine shots.
Ricky Brown ruined Harvard’s shutout bid, scoring an unassisted goal with seven minutes left for 3-7-1 Maine. Nathan Benoit made one save in the first half and Aaron Weymouth added two against Harvard’s 14 total shots.
