BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

On Nov. 5 in SAD 22 we will be asked to vote for three new members to join the school board. Four people are running for the three positions. They are Betsy Chapman, Arlene Nicholson, Ivan McPike, all incumbents, and Lynn Madden.

Betsy Chapman will be one of my choices.

She has already served for three years on the school board of SAD 22 and she has fought hard to raise the quality of education in our local schools.

A veteran of school board meetings and unafraid to voice her opinions, she is equipped to deal with all general school board matters. Her greatest concern, however, is in working toward assuring that our district schools challenge our students in their studies and set the highest standards of achievement for all students, thus allowing them to derive pride and self-confidence by achieving to the best of their ability.

Betsy Chapman is an approachable representative who not only welcomes hearing your concerns, but who tries as well to see that they are forwarded to the rest of the school board.

School board members are the only voice that the citizens have in the running of SAD 22. So if you are concerned about the quality of the SAD 22 schools, then now is the time to get in touch with the people running for school board positions. Question them about their ideas. Then vote on Nov. 5 for the candidates who will best represent your views. Marjory S. Chase Hampden
