Ricky Craven, a Newburgh native now competing on the Winston Cup auto racing circuit, is one of four nominees for the inaugural NASCAR/True Value Man of the Year Award.

True Value Hardware developed the award to honor NASCAR competitors who drive hard, but also work for good causes. The winner receives $25,000, and a matching amount goes to his designated charity. The other three nominees are Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty, and Jeff Gordon.

Craven, 30, earned his consideration with two top-three finishes and five top 10s and for his work as a spokesman for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. His designated charity is the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The winner will be announced Friday, Dec. 6, at the Winston Cup banquet in New York.
