Police were called to an apartment on Smith Street Avenue in Bangor just after 3 a.m. on Dec. 21 for an assault, but contrary to an earlier report in the Bangor Daily News, no one was arrested. The case is still under investigation, according to Lt. Tim Reid of the Bangor Police Department. A 35-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and treated for injuries to her mouth and jaw area. Reid said the injuries appeared to be quite serious.
