HERMON – Chris Gray scored 11 points and pulled down 16 rebounds Saturday to power Hermon to a 54-36 Class B schoolboy basketball victory over Orono. Scott Smith added 10 points, and Steve Tweedie and Sean Smith added nine each for the Hawks.

Jeremy Poulin led Orono with 10 points and Robey Rhoads popped in nine points.

At Presque Isle, Ryan Czosnek and Chad Graham combined for 21 of the Wildcats’ 29 second-half points in a win over the Witches.

Czosnek finished with 14 and Graham contributed 11 for Presque Isle. Kasey Keenan dished out seven assists and netted three 3-pointers for nine points.

At Hodgdon, the Hawks closed a seven-point gap to one with three minutes left, but a fortunate bounce off the leg of a Hodgdon player resulted in an easy layup and the win for Washington Academy of East Machias.

Matt Saumur scored 17 points to lead the Raiders. Brandon Ashby had 14 points while Glen Wood and James Smith each had 10.

Darren Stewart scored 25 points, Adam Carter had 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Aaron Henderson scored 12 for the Hawks.

At the Northern Maine Forum in Presque Isle, Derek Derosier’s goal with 8:07 left in the game delivered the Wildcats’ win.

Derosier’s score came off assists from Aaron Madore and Doug Carlisle for Presque Isle, which improves to 5-1. Madore made the assist on Joel Duncan’s goal with 6:56 left in the first period. Carl Morneau made 14 stops on 15 shots for his fifth win.

Jason Seavey tied the game for Brewer, now 4-2, with 5:05 left in the second period on a James Testa assist. Shawn Murphy made 17 saves on 19 attempts.

Stearns 11, Hampden 2

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Josh Lynch and Justin Grant each had a hat trick to pace the Stearns Minutemen of Millinocket to the win.

Grant also dished out four assists while Lynch made three for 4-2 Stearns. Frank Bowley had a goal and two assists while Adam Ouellette added a goal and an assist. Jeremy Munoz and Travis Cummings combined for 21 saves on 23 shots.

Scott Tardif and Rob King each scored a goal for 4-4 Hampden. Ian Dilts and Brian Cataldo combined for 30 saves on 41 shots.

Bangor 5, Deering 3

At Portland Ice Arena, David Lisnik had a hat trick to lead the Bangor to victory over Deering of Portland Saturday.

For the 3-5 Rams, Corey Jenkins and Andy Sumner each scored a goal. Goalie Jason Tuck stopped 25 of 28 shots.

Mike Johnston scored two goals and Ryan Earls had one for 2-5 Deering. Steven Andrews made 33 saves on 38 shots.
