Central tops PCHS on King buzzer-beater

GUILFORD – John King scored on a put-back as time ran out as Central of East Corinth nipped Piscataquis Community High in schoolboy basketball action Monday night.

Central did not have a lead in the second half until King’s basket. King finished with 15 points. Ryan Rivera added 12 points for the Red Devils.

Ryan Priest scored 14 points and had eight rebounds and Trey Gilbert added 10 for Piscataquis Community.

At Sherman Station, the Cougars scratched out the win after two Panda players fouled out in overtime.

Nick McNally led Katahdin with 23 points and Willie Sleeper accumulated 17 points. Chris Marston added 10 points.

Adam Peters had a game-high 27 points for Lee Academy, and Reggie Rice netted 16 points.

Cyr finished with 31 points as Penobscot Valley picked up its second win of the season. Joey Dunn and Bruce Cummings each added 13 points.

Dan Martin led Bangor Christian with 23 points. Al Sage and Chris Fisher both had 10.

At Bangor, Matt Zamejtis-Brown scored the game-tying basket on a layup with a minute left in regulation and had 14 points, six rebounds and five steals to help lead the John Bapst Crusaders to victory.

Volker Tuettenberg had 15 points for John Bapst.

Nathan Richards scored 10 to lead Foxcroft Academy, which erased a 39-29 Bapst lead in the second half and took the lead late.
