Sobey’s scoring boosts Patriots past Howlers

HOWLAND – Rachel Sobey scored eight points in the second quarter to lead Bangor Christian to a 34-32 schoolgirl basketball win against Penobscot Valley Monday.

Sobey finished with 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Mitchelle Doyon scored all of her five points in the fourth quarter as the Howlers pulled to within two points. Jamie Pelletier, who finished with seven points, scored five in the third quarter.

At Lincoln, the Dragons slowly whittled away at the Lynx lead and unleashed a 20-8 barrage in the fourth quarter to pick up the win.

Laura LaVallee scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the winners.

Mylissa McAlpine tossed in 12 points and had eight rebounds for the host Lynx. Candice Devoe grabbed eight more rebounds.
