EDDINGTON — Brian W. Theriault, 38, of Eddington has been promoted to sergeant in the Maine State Police by state police Col. Alfred R. Skolfield.

Theriault has been assigned to Troop E in Orono. He joined the state police in 1982 and has patrolled in Troop E for 10 years. He was named trooper of the year in 1987, the highest honor in the department.

Theriault grew up in York and is a York High School graduate. He also is an Air Force veteran. He lives in Eddington with his wife, Beth, and their two children.
