My daughter was finishing up her Christmas shopping at Wal-mart on Dec. 21 while I waited in my car for an hour.

I noticed a man looking cold and alone wearing a sign saying, “I’ll work for food.” Many cars and trucks drove by him as if he was invisible. Those that did stop and give the man money were driving older cars and trucks. Why did all the newer ones drive by?

My daughter and I bought the man a meal and hot coffee at the McDonald’s in Wal-mart and gave it to him. We told him that we wished there was more we could do. We wished him a merry Christmas and he said, “Thank you and merry Christmas to you.” Rosanne Theriault Eddington
