BANGOR – The University of Maine-Farmington got 15 points from Caryn Lasante and 14 each from Amber Howard, Tammy Paradie, and Kristy Parent as the Beavers knocked off Husson College 77-68 in women’s basketball play at Newman Gym Tuesday night.

Amanda Buckner chipped in with 10 for the UMF Beavers.

For Husson, Beth Miller had 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Miller also scored her 1,000th career point for Husson.

Amanda Pomerleau added 12 points, and Emily Walker added 11 for the Braves.

Husson held a 10-point halftime lead, but the Beavers shot 48 percent from the field in the second half after hitting only 27 percent in the first. Meanwhile, Husson went from 44 percent to 31 in each half.

At Unity, five players scored in double figures as the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners sank the Unity Rams.

Chris Beeler led the way for the Mariners with 18 points. Doug Peters added 17, Brian McArthur 16, Jack Kelley 11, and Ken Buttery tossed in 10.

Mike Jack scored 23 to pace the Rams while James Woods chipped in with 18.
