Corrected hockey points lift Messalonskee

An error in the compilation of the Eastern Maine Class B hockey points has been rectified and the result is Messalonskee of Oakland being seeded in the fourth spot ahead of John Bapst of Bangor.

Saturday’s Eastern Maine Class B hockey tournament quarterfinals will have No. 6 Gardiner, 11-9, facing No. 3 Stearns of Millinocket, 13-6, for a 10:45 a.m. game at the University of Maine’s Alfond Arena; No. 1 Winslow, 19-1, entertaining No. 8 Hampden, 9-11, at Winslow’s Sukee Arena at 6 p.m. followed by the game between Messalonskee, 15-5, and John Bapst, 14-6; and seventh-seeded Presque Isle, 10-9, will meet 14-6 Brewer, the second seed, at Brewer’s Bouchard Arena at 7 p.m.

In the points released on Tuesday, Hall-Dale was listed with five wins. Hall-Dale actually won six games and the extra win enabled Messalonskee, which had beaten Hall-Dale twice, to slip ahead of John Bapst by .116.

The correct points were released Wednesday.
