America East tournament semifinal

MAINE vs. DREXEL

Time, site: Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.; Alfond Arena, Orono

Records: Maine 20-7, Drexel 12-15

Series: Maine leads 15-1

Key players: Maine – 5-9 G Cindy Blodgett (25.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 3.8 apg, 3.0 spg), 6-4 F Jamie Cassidy (14.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.1 bpg), 6-4 C Stacey Porrini (10.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 1.6 bpg), 5-7 G Amy Vachon (5.6 ppg, 4.1 apg, 2.0 spg), 6-0 F Klara Danes (5.7 ppg); Drexel – 5-9 G Kim Koschineg (13.3 ppg, 2.4 apg), 5-9 G Maureen Michaels (10.6 ppg, 2.3 apg), 5-8 G Laura Lyons (5.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg), 5-11 G Jenna Vebrosky (6.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg), 6-0 F Tiffany Davis (6.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg).

Outlook: The Bears look to rediscover the Blodgett-inspired chemistry and intensity that led to Sunday’s quarterfinal win over Towson State. The Dragons likely will need their best effort of the season to upset Maine, which has won 34 consecutive America East games at the Alfond. Maine blasted Drexel 94-56 in Orono on Jan. 24 and won 55-45 Dec. 7 in Philadelphia. The Dragons shot 50 percent Sunday in snapping a four-game losing streak while knocking off Hartford, but the Bears rank third in the nation, holding opponents to 35-percent shooting. Maine has won seven in a row.
