BAR HARBOR — Reel Pizza Cinerama will present two films over the next two weeks featuring French actress Catherine Deneuve, a mainstay of French cinema for nearly forty years.

“Les Parapluies de Cherbourg” (“The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”), recently restored to vivid Technicolor, will be shown Tuesday through Thursday, March 18 through 20. Directed by Jacques Demy, the 1964 pop-opera, which won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival, was Deneuve’s major film breakthrough.

A psychological thriller from director Andre Techine, “Les Voleurs” (“The Thieves”), Deneuve’s latest venture, will be shown Tuesday through Thursday, March 25 through 28, at 6 and 8:30 p.m.

The films are in French with English subtitles.

Other films in the Deneuve oeuvre include “Belle de Jour” (1967), “The Hunger” (1983), “Indochine” (1991) and “Ma Saison Preferee” (1995).

At the Tuesday and Wednesday evening shows, Noelle Grunelius, a Bangor area French teacher and film enthusiast, will introduce the films and discuss them after showing.
