ROCKLAND – Sarah Mazurek drove in two runs with a single in the bottom of the sixth to give the Rockland a 6-4 win over Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield Monday in schoolgirl softball action.
Maranda Gary pitched a complete game to pick up the win for the 1-0 Tigers. Liz Cucinello, Erin Stevens, and Erin Toohey each had two singles for Rockland.
Kristyn Graham had a pair of RBIs for the 0-1 Huskies.

At Mount Desert Island, Erica Carter doubled, hit three singles, and drove in three runs to lead the George Stevens Academy Eagles of Blue Hill to the season-opening victory.
Darcy Snow added a double and a single for the Eagles while Heidi Carroll notched the win.
Riley McIsaac singled twice to pace the Trojans.

At Bucksport, Jen Wardwell smacked a three-run triple in the second to give the Bucks a dominant lead en route to the win.

At Belfast, Erskine’s Brian Reay pitched a complete game, allowing only six hits.
The Lions scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t finish the comeback.
Reay added a pair of hits, including a double, for the 1-0 Eagles. Josh Mooers had a pair of singles and Don Flood had two doubles.
Rolan Littlefield and Josh Puller each had RBI singles in a three-run fourth for the 0-1 Lions.

At Rockland, Steve Galkowski hit a solo home run and pitched a complete as the Tigers downed Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.
Galkowski had 10 strikeouts and only four walks to pick up the win.
Rockland scored five runs in the first to jump out to an early lead it wouldn’t relinquish. David Carter had three singles to pace the 1-0 Tigers.
