Bangor Christian, Machias split

At Bangor, Bangor Christian and Machias split a doubleheader as the Bulldogs took the 29-24 opener before the Patriots avenged the loss 8-4.

Carolyn Luce and Michelle Hussey keyed Machias with four hits each, on three singles and a double in the first game.

Rachel Sage and Farrah Carmichael posted three singles each for Bangor Christian. Stephanie Regan and Laresa Sobey each had a single and a double for the Patriots.

In the second game, Kellie Hitchings singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Bangor Christian to the win.

Stephanie Regan pitched a complete game for the Patriots and belted two doubles with four RBIs. Sobey and Heidi Niles had two hits.

Abby Crockett led Machias with a single and a triple. Luce and Hussey each drilled two singles for the Bulldogs.

At Millinocket, Kelly Downes drove in two runs on three singles to lead the Golden Bucks.

Lacey Annis knocked in two runs on two singles and Jessica Sawyer slammed a two-run double for Bucksport.

Angela Philbrook ripped a two-run single to pace Stearns. Brooke Legassey chipped in a double.

At Dover-Foxcroft, the Trojans took advantage of a shaky fifth inning by the Ponies defense.

Foxcroft committed four errors in the fifth inning as the Trojans scored five runs to tie the game. Crystal Graves poked two singles for the Trojans and Riley McIssac belted a two-run double.

For Foxcroft, Becky Warren, Kelly Dow, and Ashlee Dow each had run-scoring singles.

At Ellsworth, Rachel Smallidge knocked in seven runs on three singles, two doubles, and a single for the victory.

Kim Beekman belted a three-run home run and two singles as Melissa Lemar slammed three singles of her own for the winners.

Liza Fogler smacked a double and a single to pace Dexter.

At Hampden, Wendy Winslow rapped a double and a single to help the Warriors collect the win.

Adrienne Nickerson poked a double for Nokomis of Newport.

Sarah Trask ripped a double and a single to pace Hampden Academy. Leah Wentworth chipped in a double.

At Blue Hill, Heidi Carroll fired a two-hit shutout, fanning seven to give the Eagles the win.

Emily Lewandowksi, Denise Erland, and Nikki Robichaud all singled to lead George Stevens Academy.

Tovan Willey and Tema Rodgers rapped a single apiece to pace Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Husson College in Bangor, Kelly Bagley slammed four singles, a double, and three RBIs to give the Red Riots the win.

Jessica Libby rapped three singles for Orono.

Stacey Rudnicki smacked a two-run single to pace John Bapst.

At Camden, freshman righthander Mike MacDonald gave up only two singles, one each in the first and second innings, to give the Windjammers the victory. He struck out six and walked three.

Joah Peck scored C-R’s lone run in the fourth on Nate Neville’s double. Peck was hit by a pitch and then stole second.

At Millinocket, Bucksport received help from the bottom of its lineup as Buzz Simpson smacked two home runs out of the No. 8 spot.

Simpson also had a single in his three-hit day. Steve Smith, Jody Peak, and Jeff LaChance all contributed two singles.

For the Minutemen, John Montgomery slapped a single and a double, while Steve Osborne hit two singles.

At Ellsworth, four Ellsworth pitchers struck out 12 batters and combined for a four-hitter as the Eagles downed Dexter.

Phil Hodgkins had three hits for the Eagles, including two singles and a triple, and two RBIs. Ellsworth took advantage of the wildness of the Dexter pitchers, who threw seven walks and hit four batters.

Travis Carr hit two singles for the Tigers.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Matt McFarland went 5-5 and scored three runs to lead the Trojan attack.

McFarland blasted a two-run home run, two doubles, and two singles and Jeff Watson slapped two singles for Mount Desert Island.

Justin Clawson ripped a double and a single fro Foxcroft.

At Blue Hill, Chris Pickering and Jason Shook slammed first- At Blue Hill, Chris Pickering and Jason Shook slammed first-inning home runs to lead the George Stevens Eagles.

Pickering hit a two-run shot and and Shook belted a three-run homer in the first when George Stevens scored all of its runs. Seth Cole pitched in two singles and an RBI, while Cole and Pickering combined on a complete game five-hitter.

John Colby paced Sumner of East Sullivan with two singles and two runs batted in. Roger Kennedy smacked a two-run homer in the fourth for the Tigers.

Orono 8, John Bapst 6

At the Husson College field in Bangor, two-run singles by Barry Terrill and Peter Munn in the third inning secured the Red Riots’ win.

Mike Perry hit an inside-the-park grand slam for the Riots in the top of the first inning, then moved to the mound and struck out 14 Crusaders and walked only three en route to the complete-game victory. Perry and Terrill each added a single.

Nate Waring’s two-run homer and Joel Perry’s two-run double tied the game, but Perry’s two-run single in the fifth provided the Crusaders’ last runs. Perry also had a double and Waring a single.

Machias sweeps Bangor Christian

At Bangor, Bob Stevens had a big day with two home runs and seven runs batted in during a doubleheader sweep by Machias.

In the first game, Stevens jacked a home run and a single and had two RBIs to lead the Machias. Nate Leroy ripped three singles to aid pitcher Andrew Feeney who struck out 11 in only six innings.

Dan Martin and Justin McKenna led Bangor Christian in the first game with a double apiece.

In game two, Stevens was back up to his old tricks as he smoked two singles to go with a grand slam, lifting Machias to a 12-run decision in five innings. Stevens finished the game with five RBIs. Wayne Morey smacked three doubles and a single for the Bulldogs.

Aaron Davis led the Patriots of Bangor Christian with two singles and two RBIs. Josh Ouellette was a terror on the basepaths with two singles and three stolen bases.

At Hampden, Nokomis of Newport took advantage of nine Hampden errors en route to knocking off the host Broncos.

Trevor Goforth pitched a five-hitter, doubled, and singled for the Warriors. Richie Otis added two singles.

Rob King doubled and singled to pace Hampden Academy.
