MOUNTAINDALE, N.Y. – A leadoff home run by Ray McWhite and a three-run shot by Kerwin Moore in the bottom of the second inning capped the scoring by Catskill, but the Cougars hung on for a 6-5 victory over Bangor here Tuesday night.

The host Cougars scored twice in the first on A.J. Jemison’s two-run double. Bert Bellcase scattered seven hits over nine innings and issued just one walk to earn his first win of the season.

Bangor got on the scoreboard in the second as Tim Morrow hit a solo homer, his fourth of the season. The Blue Ox struck for two runs in the seventh on Chad White’s leadoff walk, Carlos Mota’s one-out triple, and Dave Ekelund’s bloop single to right field.

Pete Hartmann (0-2) is still looking for his first win after giving up 10 hits in seven innings.

Bangor falls back to 5-6 while Catskill moves to 3-8.

Team notes – Jamie Davis was placed on the team’s disabled list with an infected ingrown toenail on his right foot and Ray Coleman, who had a hairline fracture of his big toe, was reactivated. John Quirk (0-0, 8.53 ERA) will take Davis’ place in the rotation and get his start Wednesday against Catskill’s Felix Liriano (2-0, 4.50).
