SCARBOROUGH – Bobby Babb of Windham found himself down with one lap to go, but managed to pass and pull away during the final lap to take the checkered flag Saturday in the NASCAR late model sportsman race.
Dennis Hall of Scarborough came up just short in second place, while Steve Howard, also of Scarborough, finished the race in third at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Tom Oliver of Scarborough and Jim Manchester of Gorham finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Chubbuck takes Wiscasset victory
At Wiscassett, Scott Chubbuck of Woolwich edged out Bar Harbor’s John Phippen at the finish line to take his seventh win of the season. Phippen pulled in only inches behind Chubbuck to claim second place, while Mike Harnish of Winterport rounded out the top three.

Rain postpones NEPSA
At St. Pie, Quebec, Thunderstorms forced the postponement of the Northeast Pro Stock Association’s first race outside the United States. A 100-lap event involoving Dirt-type Modifieds has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 20 at Sanair Super Speedway.
The next NEPSA event is scheduled for next Sunday at Speedway 95 in Hermon.
Spud Speedway rained out
At Caribou, showers forced a day of racing to be rescheduled. The Late Model Sportsman State Farm Insurance 100 has been postponed until July 4th at 2 p.m. This coming Sunday, The Late Model Sportsman P.L. Willey, Co. 100 will headline a five-feature program.
