WALDO – The shortening of the second game due to storms could not save Calais from being swept by Waldo County 7-6 and 10-4 in a Saturday doubleheader..

In the first game, Ryan Maheux went 2-for-3 at the plate for Waldo County, chalking up two singles and driving in the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Nate Hall went a perfect 3-for-3, offering up a home run, two singles and an RBI, and Sazi Guthrie delivered a double, a single and an RBI.

Jeff Mitchell’s one hit for his three times at the plate was a soaring 2-run homer in the second inning, and Josh Peters came up with a pair of singles.

In the second game, Greg Bouchard served up a double and two singles with an RBI. Chris Maheux and Rod Damon both came through with a double and a single, Maheux driving in two.

Aaron Tripp and pitcher Roland Littlefield both drove in a pair of runs, with Tripp blasting a double and Littlefield hitting a single.

Trenton, Orono split

At Ellsworth, Trenton and Orono played to a draw in the rain with Trenton winning the first game 6-5 and Orono taking the second 10-5.

In the first game, Rick McDonald scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th after doubling to lead off the inning.

Torrey McDonald and Mike Worcester pounded out four hits apiece to lead Trenton. Rick McDonald had a double and two singles and Seth Cole drilled a home run and two singles for the Acadians.

Steve Osborne led Orono with two triples. Robbey Rhoades banged out three singles for the Twins.

In the second game, the Twins and Acadians were limited to 5 1/2 innings, but that was all Orono needed.

Jeremy Poulin barely missed the cycle with a single, double, and triple. Nick Potts ripped three singles, while Frank Bowley contributed a double and a single.

Rick McDonald paced Trenton with two doubles. Seth Cole also doubled.

Skowhegan sweeps Bangor

At Bangor, the Skowhegan Log Drivers posted 18 runs in sweeping the Bangor Comrades 11-5 and 7-6.

In the first game, Jesse Lacasse slammed a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to lead Skowhegan. Lacasse also had a triple and had three RBIs. Luke Domareki ripped three singles and knocked in a pair of runs.

Matt Soucie and Tom Waterman each had two singles and an RBI for Bangor.

In the second game, Alex Cyr knocked in three runs with a single and a double to lead Skowhegan. Jake Burnham drove in a run and had three hits for the Log Drivers.

T.J. True led Bangor with a three run double and Joel Perry brought home two runs with a pair of singles.

Brewer 14, Hermon 1

At Hermon, a scheduled doubleheader was cut in half by rain showers, but Brewer still managed to ring up a victory.

Greg Goebel slammed a solo home run for the Falcons of Brewer and Mike Kane went 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Two Brewer pitchers combined to toss a four-hitter with six strikeouts.

Ed Houston paced Hermon by going 2-for-3 with two singles.

The second game between the Navigators and Falcons will be made up today at 6 p.m.
