Brewer, Bangor W., Old Town win

Brewer, Bangor West, Calais and Old Town all advanced with victories in the District 3 Little League All-Star tourney for ages 11-12 on Monday.

Brewer knocked off Millinocket 6-2, Bangor West edged Sunrise of Cherryfield 3-2, Calais rolled past Eastport 21-3 and Old Town defeated Coastal of Bar Harbor 7-4.

On Wednesday, Bangor West will host Orono-Veazie, Calais will visit Brewer and Coastal will play Sunrise.

On July 8, Eastport will host Millinocket in an elimination game.

Brewer 6, Millinocket 2

At Millinocket, righthander Josh Kochis threw a five-hitter and helped his own cause with a double in a four-run second inning rally to pace Brewer to the triumph.

Matt Sargent also delivered for Brewer in the second when he smacked a bases-loaded single to drive in two runs.

Josh Caldwell added a double for Brewer and John Bell doubled and singled. Kochis walked only two and struck out three to earn the win. Josh Hawkes added a single and an RBI for the winners.

Aaron Rideout’s two doubles and Matt Leino’s two singles paced Millinocket.

Bangor West 3, Sunrise 2

At Bangor, Bangor West scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take the victory. One run scored on an error and Allen Easley drove in the other on an infield groundout.

Andrew Treadwell earned the win for Bangor as he struck out nine and walked one.

John Huhn paced Bangor with two doubles and Easley singled and drove in two runs.

Chekotah Wingo was the hard-luck loser for Sunrise as he struck out six and walked two while three-hitting Bangor.

Old Town 7, Coastal 4

At Old Town, a five-run fourth inning gave Old Town the lead for good.

Alex Pelkey doubled for the winners and Brad Goody singled and drove in two runs. Andrew Pease slammed a single and a double, driving in one run.

Coastal’s Mark Clapp came through with a pair of singles, while B.J. Smith doubled. Dwayne Ledein blasted a pair of doubles.

Calais 21, Eastport 3

At Calais, Scott McDonald struck out seven and allowed just one walk and four hits to help send his team over Eastport.

James McDonald was 4-for-5 for Calais, slamming a home run, two doubles, and a single. Joey Footer blasted a pair of homers and a double, and catcher Andy Frost chalked up a trio of doubles.

Eastport’s Ben Maloney doubled twice.
