Sands powers Hermon

CALAIS – Wes Sands blasted a two-run home run in the third to help Hermon take the lead and the eventual victory 5-3 victory over Calais in American Legion action Tuesday night.

Besides Sands’ shot, Brock Hartford and Rob Freese both slammed triples for Hermon.

Jason Redding went 4-for-4 for Calais, with two doubles and two singles.

Brewer 16, Skowhegan 7

At Brewer, a seven-run third inning set Brewer on top for good, leading them over Skowhegan 16-7.

Mike Kane smacked two doubles and a single for Brewer, while Jody Peak hit a single and a double and Chad Gilley rapped three singles.

Jesse LaCasse slammed a pair of doubles and a single, driving in two runs for Skowhegan.
