BANGOR – Bangor East defeated Millinocket 6-1 in Sunday’s championship round to capture the District 3 championship for ages 9-10 in the Little League All-Star baseball tourney at the 13th Street complex.
Millinocket advanced to the title game after eliminating Old Town on Sunday 23-7. In Saturday’s games, Orono-Veazie ousted Holbrook of Holden 10-5 and Old Town eliminated Bangor West 17-16. Bangor East then shut out Millinocket 13-0 and Old Town eliminated Orono-Veazie 12-9.

John Tuell led Orono-Veazie with three singles and two RBIs. Nathan Faulstick and Andrew Otis both hit two singles, Faulstick with an RBI.

Brewer advanced to Monday’s 5:30 p.m. championship round with a 14-12 victory over Acadia on Saturday at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor. Brewer will take on Acadia, which eliminated Old Town 20-15 Sunday night.
Earlier Sunday, Old Town ousted Bangor 13-3. On Saturday, Old Town eliminated Millinocket 14-4 and Bangor ousted Orono-Veazie 15-5.

Brian Tewhey doubled and singled with an RBI to help lead Old Town. Matt Avery doubled and singled, and R.J. Cole and Charlie Boucavalas singled twice with an RBI.

Bangor stayed in the winners bracket with an 11-1 win over Millinocket on Sunday in Senior League All-Star action at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor. Bangor will play in the championship round on Monday at 8 p.m. against Millinocket, which beat Old Town Sunday night 6-5.
In Saturday’s games, Brewer eliminated Sunrise 11-4 and Old Town ousted Orono-Veazie 5-4. On Sunday, Old Town eliminated Brewer 7-6.

Loser Chris Brissette paced Old Town with a double, a single and two runs scored. Casey Powers (RBI) and Jason Sirois added two singles each.

Kate Turner led for Bangor with a single and double, while Hanna Bennett added a single.
